The basic element of the Thai cuisine is definitely rice. Often the perfumed jamine rice is used for it. Also very common are noodles, especially when the meal is prepared in a wok. Spices such as ginger, galanga root, lemongrass or coriander give the Thai kitchen a very refreshing taste. Worldwide well-known dishes are several variations of curry, Tom Yam (a sour and spicy soup) or Som Tam (a mixture of various vegetables). The dishes are usually combined with chicken. But also shrimp, meat or fish can be ordered with them.
